Abstracts are invited on new research in adults, children, neonates, and animal models involving :

  • Risk factors for cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB)
  • Bypass protection during CPB
  • Brain protection during carotid endarterectomy
  • Anesthesia during cardiac and carotid surgery and its effect on the brain
  • Neonates - CPB and neurologic outcome
  • Perfusion methodology
  • Cerebral hemodynamics during cardiac and carotid surgery
  • Neuropsychological dysfunction associated with cardiac & carotid surgery
  • Monitoring during CPB
  • Advances in surgical techniques
  • Developments in methodology: CPB apparatus, EEG monitoring, Doppler, and cerebral blood flow

Papers will be presented in a DISCUSSION format with slides.  During competition, a total of 10 minutes will be alloted: 3 minutes for oral presentation with a maximum of 5 slides: 1-2 Method slides, 1 Results slides, 1 Conclusion slide, and 1 Issues for discussion slide, which will be followed by 7 minutes of question and answer.

Abstracts must be submitted on the Microsoft Word Template, which has an example abstract. The abstract must be typed using the Font Arial Size 7. (You need to type the 7 in the font size box in Word).
